We were big fans of Jenny Hagel's last video series Feminist Rapper, so you can imagine our delight when she tipped us off to her latest work, the short film Tech Support, directed by Erik Gernand. If you've got nine minutes to spare this afternoon, why not spend them watching a lesbian comedy about women finding love over a tech support hotline? (Warning: This video may be considered mildly NSFW, especially around the time that one of the women starts tapping out "In Your Eyes" in Morse Code on her stapler. Seriously.) Check it out:

If you were feeling like this hump day was going to go on forever without anything fun happening, take heart: There is a new episode of Feminist Rapper! In this installment, our Women's Studies professor uses rap to inspire a woman who doesn't think she can stand up for herself against men. Well guess what, lady? Women can, and do, fight back! And they can even do it while rapping and poking fun at academia! (Seriously, I can't wait until I can use the "for the full answer to that, read my master's thesis" comeback.)

It's somewhat of a running joke in feminist circles that, while awesome, a PhD in Gender Studies doesn't exactly bring in the big bucks. Well, Jenny Hagel is looking to change that (or at least the character she plays in her new web series, Feminist Rapper is). In the first episode, "A Lady Made That," a frustrated Gender Studies professor learns how to rap to try and get her students excited about the historical contributions women have made to society. A catchy rap that rhymes a'ight with Margaret Knight? A clueless student who confuses Judge Sandra Day O'Connor with Judge Dredd? A freestyle rap over the credits about Sojourner Truth and Susan B. Anthony? (Seriously don't skip the credits because that freestyle is awesome.) I am already anxiously awaiting the next episode.
