I Can Has Feminizm?

Comedy post by Kelsey Wallace on March 20, 2010 - 12:30pm; tagged Born in the USA, Bruce Springsteen, feminizm, Glenn Beck, I Can Has Cheezburger?, I Can Has Feminizm?, LOLCats.
File it under "Where have you been for the past 26 years?," and cross-reference it with "How on earth do you have a career in news?" (you have files for both of those, don't you?): Glenn Beck came out this week as being decidedly against Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA". Apparently, the song doesn't send the patriotic message he's always thought it did. Really, Glenn Beck? That song came out in 1984. You have had plenty of time to listen to the lyrics whilst hosting your tea parties and singing along at douche rallies (Sorry, Boss, but I think they play your music at their rallies). Well, we're pretty astounded by your incredible lyric-deducing abilities, and so is this kitteh:

Comedy post by Kelsey Wallace on March 13, 2010 - 4:11pm; tagged Barbie, I Can Has Cheezburger?, I Can Has Feminizm?, Mad Men.
You may have seen some news this week about a new line of Mad Men Barbie dolls. Not surprisingly, the dolls are lacking in the body diversity department, even though they are supposed to be doll versions of actual women. This is annoying, and a certain LOLcat is not going to stand for it anymore:

I Can Has Feminizm?

Comedy post by Kelsey Wallace on March 6, 2010 - 1:05pm; tagged Ben Huh, fair wages, I Can Has Cheezburger?, I Can Has Feminizm?, LOLcat empire.
Oh noes, readerz! It appears that we are in the midst of a LOLscandal! According to some recent blog posts Ben Huh, creator of I Can Has Cheezburger? (home of the original LOLcat) is not paying his workers a living wage. From Valleywag:
A Cheezburger spy tells us says Huh's work ethos is deeply felt and permeates his company; our tipster said there are a significant number of minimum-wage employees within the company expected to work "extensive hours without overtime pay."

Egadz! For a man who has built a bajillion-dollar empire on the backs of unsuspecting and photogenic animals, you'd think Huh could do a bit better by those in his employ. Rest assured, this does not apply to the feminizm LOLz here at Bitch HQ. However, this Cheezburger LOL has a message for Mr. Huh:

Comedy post by Kelsey Wallace on February 27, 2010 - 10:00am; tagged I Can Has Cheezburger?, I Can Has Feminizm?, Kell on Earth, LOLz, twitter.
OK, so a few of us at the Bitch office might be just a little obsessed with Bravo's Kell on Earth, the reality show based on Kelly Cutrone and her fashion PR company People's Revolution. What can we say? It's really good. If you watch the show as well, you know that someone got fired on this week's episode for inappropriate tweeting (video here). Hey, NOBODY TWEETS ABOUT PEOPLE'S REVOLUTION AND GETS AWAY WITH IT. Not even this LOLcat:

Can you believe women still aren't allowed to ski jump in the Olympics? Good thing the campaign to include a women's ski jump event in the 2014 games is already underway. And this kitteh is going to be ready:

I Can Has Feminizm?

Comedy post by Kelsey Wallace on November 7, 2009 - 12:22pm; tagged gay marriage, I Can Has Cheezburger?, I Can Has Feminizm?, LOLz, Maine, Washington.
This week was an important one for same-sex marriage legislation, no matter which side you're on (you should be on the side of same-sex marriage). And around here, when important things happen, important LOLz must be consulted.

This kitteh is NOT happy about voters repealing the same-sex marriage law in Maine this week, and we can't blame her:

maine.jpg

This next LOL animal is optimistic about the future of same-sex marriage legislation, inspired by the fact that a vote in Washington state this week not only granted the same rights to homosexual couples that heterosexual couples get (y'know, besides the whole "marriage" thing) but it marked the first time that legislation to dramatically expand gay rights has been approved by a statewide vote of the people anywhere in the US. Yay! Next stop, marriage!

And those of you who follow I Can Has Feminizm might recognize these advocates from our first-ever LOLz post:

Awww. You can always count on feminizt LOLz to be both cute and logical. Remember that YOU (that's right, we're talking to you) can send us your own feminist LOLz to be featured on this very blog. Just go to the LOL builder and send your creations to us via the blog tips page. We know you've got some adorable animal pics floating around that are just begging for a feminist caption. Have a great weekend, and let's go marriage equality!

I Can Has Feminizm?

Social Commentary post by Kelsey Wallace on October 2, 2009 - 2:55pm; tagged abortion, cats, dogs, I Can Has Cheezburger?, I Can Has Feminizm?, iTunes, LOLz, Orrin Hatch.
Ah, the weekend. A time to unwind and have some fun. This particular weekend, I am in New York for my friends' wedding . And you know what the best way to celebrate a wedding (or any special occasion, really) is, don't you? With LOLz, of course!!!

The first special occasion we're celebrating with LOLz this week is Senator Orrin Hatch's abortion amendments were summarily rejected. He wanted to make sure that "abortions could not be covered by any insurance offered through the planned health-insurance exchanges" and that women who wanted their insurance plans to cover abortions would have to buy additional abortion plans. You know, because everyone likes to plan out their abortions years in advance. At any rate, Hatch was shut down, and this puppeh is pretty happy about it:

As you may know, here at Bitch we're also celebrating our new iTunes channel. Subscribe today! These dogs already did, and look how much fun they're having:

itoonz.jpg

Of course, LOLz aren't just good for celebrating special occasions. They are also good for making fun of things you hate. We hate Men's News Daily because they are total a-holes. (For evidence of said a-hole-ishness, check out this article on why feminists are to blame for unfair rape laws. Yikes.) This cat hates Men's News Daily, too:

mens_news_daily.jpg

So there you have it, some LOLz to brighten your weekend. If you ever feel like making a few feminizt LOLz of your own (and we know you will), visit the I Can Has Cheezburger? LOL Builder and send 'em our way. Kthxbai.

I Can Has Feminizm?

Comedy post by Kelsey Wallace on September 27, 2009 - 10:39am; tagged feminizm, I Can Has Cheezburger?, I Can Has Feminizm?, Jenny Slate, LOLz, SNL, sonia sotomayor, television.
It's finally here, the moment you've been waiting for all week long. No, we're not talking about tonight's episode of Mad Men (but omg what is going to happen to Joan?), we're talking about FEMINIZT LOLZ!!! Why? Because LOLz are watching even when we aren't. Check out what their sharp eyes caught on television this week!

Say, did anyone see Jenny Slate's now infamous swear-word slip on SNL last night?

f-wurd.jpg

Bunnies are sooo conservative! Get over it already!

What about the Yankees game on Saturday? Did anyone get a chance to see the ceremonial opening pitch?

juztice.jpg

In this case, that seems like a good thing. Way to go, Sonia!

And what about television this week? From the disappointing premiere of The Good Wife to the stereotype-laden The Witches of Eastwick, this hasn't been a great television season for women so far. Will things get any better?

forchoon.jpg

Hmm . . . She must be talking about Cougar Town.

Sigh. What would we do without LOLz? Be a lot sadder, that's what. So if you've got some feminizt LOLz hiding up your sleeve, send them our way! Have a grate weekend.
