Sarah Haskins

Farewell, Sarah Haskins. We hardly knew ye.

Comedy post by Kelsey Wallace on January 26, 2010 - 1:09pm; tagged comedy, Sarah Haskins, Target Women.
We heard it through the internet vine yesterday that Sarah Haskins is leaving Target Women. Nooo! Though it's great that Haskins is on her way to what seem like equally green if not greener pastures (penning scripts for Amy Poehler and Natalie Portman) she will be sorely missed. Sure, Target Women may get a new host, but who else could make us laugh about number two the way Sarah did?

More videos and Haskins goodness after the jump!

Sarah Haskins: Fashion Expert on the Rachel Maddow Show

Social Commentary post by Kjerstin Johnson on October 15, 2009 - 10:58am; tagged fashion, fashion models, Felippa Hamilton, Rachel Maddow, Ralph Lauren, Sarah Haskins, weight.
By now maybe you've heard of Ralph Lauren model Filippa Hamilton's contract being terminated because she was "too fat." (And all this after she was horrendously photoshopped.)

Who better than tackle the topic than Target Women's Sarah Haskins, who was on the Rachel Maddow Show last night! If you missed it, here's the clip...(it also shows what happens when their graphic design team uses the same Photoshop dimensions on Rachel Maddow!)
"Ralph Lauren is just playing the game with everyone else. I think this incident primarily explains, to me, why Ralph Lauren fired...me."

Sarah Haskins' Book Club

Audio post by Kjerstin Johnson on June 2, 2009 - 1:14pm; tagged books, podcasts, recommendations, reviews, Sarah Haskins.
Besides shooting Infomania at Current.com, writing and pitching a screenplay, contributing to the Post and Tribune, Sarah Haskins still manages to find time to curl up with a good read. Here Sarah indulges me by recommending books for quite the assortment of characters.

Sexual Euphemism Now in Convenient Chocolate Form: the Fling candy bar by Mars

Love / Shove post by Kjerstin Johnson on May 18, 2009 - 12:43pm; tagged candy bars, chocolate, health, Lisa Johnson, marketing, Mars, Sarah Haskins, selling sex, sexual innuendo, the Fling.
NPR reported on a new candy bar from Mars--its first in 20 years--called the Fling. Wrapped in a shimmery pink and silver package, it's not just its low calorie count that is catering to women. The campaign behind it has taken an unsubtle approach to marketing the candy bar as more of a marital aid than an item from a vending machine. While "finger" may be an industry term for a thin and slender, it takes on a whole different meaning with the catchphrase "Pleasure Yourself" (Also gross and awkward: "Serving Size: 1 Finger"). Other taglines like "Naughty, but not that naughty," "Have a FLING™ in private, or wave it all around town; in the office, the bedroom, or the great outdoors," make no ambiguous implications that the Fling satisfies better than a Snickers. But how?!

Sick of holiday commercials? Sarah Haskins to the rescue!

Love / Shove post by Annalee Schafranek on December 1, 2008 - 1:23pm; tagged commercials, consumer culture, consumerism, feminism, Sarah Haskins, Target Women.
Since I’m still in the charming stage of not having my life together, whenever I go home I can always count on my mom making sure I eat well. This is especially true during the holidays (leftovers and pumpkin cheesecake for days!). While my little brother helped out with making an excellent mostly-veggie Thanksgiving dinner, all the holiday cooking commercials I watched in between a Project Runway marathon reminded me of a great episode of Current TV’s Target Women called "Feeding Your F---ing Family."
