Normally I get hives when I see a mom-word like momtrepreneur, but I've been using momoversary for a few years now. What does it mean? It means today is the day I became a mom. It's a way to acknowledge that my daughter's birthday isn't just about her, it's also about me. Yeah, I'm selfish like that. Honestly it came about because one of my best friends said something a few years before I became a mom that we should give our moms presents on our birthdays, not the other way around. She's not only crafty, but whip smart too.

So now that I have a ton more mom friends, I tell them "Happy Momoversary" on their kid's birthdays. I do try to aim for the eldest, but hey, each kid is a new anniversary of motherhood.

This week's featured mom blog, Hijas Americanas, is written by another mom whose family is crafted by adoption. It's also a blog that didn't start out as a mom blog, but as Rosie Molinary's life opened up for her son to enter into it, her blog morphed as well.

I've been reading Dawn forever and each time I get a chance to mention her as a mom blog I do. This Woman's Work is an amazing blog.

In a nutshell, Dawn has brought us along on her journey as a mom to Noah, wife to Brett, through her & Brett's desire to be parents again and their decision to bring Madison, through adoption, into their family. What sets Dawn's blog a part of other mom blogs is her honesty. The epitome of her honesty is how she is managing the open adoption of Madison.

When I was asked to guest-blog for Bitch I knew I wanted to cover the mom angle. It's not so much that after becoming a mom that it's all I want to do, but rather, I still see a need to cover and promote feminist mom stuff. While there was quite a controversy last month on whether or not there is a divide between feminist blogs and mom blogs, I want to use this temporary soap box to point out some of my favorite feminist mom blogs. Some are obviously feminist mom blogs and some will be a bit more subtle.
