Another week, another bunch of thought-provoking articles. Here's some of what we've been reading:

• Bad news: Canadian blog Gender Focus is shutting down. At least we'll have Jarrah's upcoming board game projects to follow!

As Nadra put so well yesterday, it’s likely few Americans actually spent the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday engaging in civil rights activism or even reflection. And like Nadra, I spent part of the day watching The Oprah Winfrey Show and her retrospective on the program’s most memorable discussions on race. So much was discussed during the episode that we thought it deserved more coverage, which hopefully compliments her terrific Race Card series post.

It's so interesting to listen to this last speech of MLK's right now, while we're in the middle of the time we're in. It's interesting how similar the message MLK is giving to Obama's--and many people are making quite a show of connecting the two (ahem, mainstream media??). But what I find even more interesting is the differences. Both MLK and Obama talk about making the U.S. a better nation--but there are important differences that each man takes to get there.
