File it under "Where have you been for the past 26 years?," and cross-reference it with "How on earth do you have a career in news?" (you have files for both of those, don't you?): Glenn Beck came out this week as being decidedly against Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the USA". Apparently, the song doesn't send the patriotic message he's always thought it did. Really, Glenn Beck? That song came out in 1984. You have had plenty of time to listen to the lyrics whilst hosting your tea parties and singing along at douche rallies (Sorry, Boss, but I think they play your music at their rallies). Well, we're pretty astounded by your incredible lyric-deducing abilities, and so is this kitteh:
Hold on to your hats feminizts, because I Can Has Feminizm? is back! I may have let a few LOLz haters get in the way of my providing animal-and-feminism-based laughs these past few weeks, but no more! LOLz are back by popular demand and the first one this weekend comes to us from a Bitch reader and her, well, bitch. Check it out:
How cute! And it's nice to see that the Consumed Issue is a hit with the canine set.
Our next kitteh is responding to the Grrrl on Film post from earlier this week about Disney's purchase of Marvel comics and what that might mean for girls who are hoping for a woman superhero to make it to the big screen one of these days:
We're right there with you, cat friend! Do you think she's got her paws crossed for a silver screen adaptation of Kitty Pryde or what?
And just in case you forgot that gender norms can affect our animal friends as well as us humans:
Srsly, look at that girl forcing her cat to wear a pink apron! It's like The Feminine Mystique was never even published or something.
Have a good weekend everyone, and enjoy the LOLz! Don't forget that you can make your own feminizt LOLz by visiting the I Can Has Cheezburger? LOLbuilder and sending your creations to us here.
Happy weekend! Happy Feminsit LOLz! At the Bitch Office we're in the final throes of preparing our much-anticipated fall issue! We're totally stoked about the new layout and think you will be too! We know this guy is:
Those of you who spend a fair amount of time on the internet (and I include myself in this group) have hopefully had the good fortune to visit the wonderful world of I Can Has Cheezburger, the ultimate source for LOLz on the world wide webs. (If you haven't been there yet, you should really check it out.)
Anyway, we here at Bitch lovez ourselvez some LOLz, and we thought it would be fun to start a weekly blog feature highlighting LOLz that have a touch of feminist politics to them (and the usual adorable hilarity, of course). We made these ones, but what we really want is for YOU (that's right, we're talking to you) to send us your own feminist LOLz so that we can feature them on the blog each week. Just go to the LOL builder and send your creations to us via the blog tips page. We know you've got some adorable animal pics floating around that are just begging for a feminist caption! Some examples:
Awww, who could resist passing gay marriage legislation after seeing this photo?
And this puppy is just stating what we've all been thinking, isn't she?
Do you think that the person who came up with the "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle" slogan ever consulted the fish about it?
Have a great weekend, and send us your LOLz so we can post them here next week!
