This blog series isn't just about women who produce art—it's also about the women who support and promote it. Like most industries, gender inequality is rife in the art world, but I thought it only fair to find out who is representing us and if there looks to be a shift towards more female directors of galleries and museums.

In 1972 the artist Valie Export wrote a manifesto, simply called "Women's Art." She went on to become a key figure in the feminist art movement and her words inspired many people, but I wanted to see how far we've come since then and what we can do to progress even further in liberating ourselves through art, and getting it recognized by the mainstream.

As if gay marriage weren't sweet enough already, Ben & Jerry's and Freedom to Marry have teamed up to present us with Hubby Hubby, a renamed version of their popular peanut butter & pretzel-y ice cream. Check it out:

Before I go any farther, let me say I'm glad Obama won. I feel like if queer folks don't say that first, there will be a backlash against our community that will be painfully unprecedented. So, again I say: I am glad Obama won.
