I ♥ Sarah Waters

B-sides blog post by Amy S. Williams, August 22, 2008 - 4:26pm; tagged: books, celebrities, lesbian, movies, pop culture, queer.

I felt very much out of the lezzie-loop yesterday when I found out that Sarah Waters' second novel, Affinity, has been made into a movie and was the opening night film at Frameline this summer.

Summer reading suggestions?

B-sides blog post by Amy S. Williams, July 31, 2008 - 5:55pm; tagged: books, fiction, fun, reader ideas.

Anyone out there have summer reading suggestions for our on-line readers? Non-fiction and fiction....? graphic novels? essays? bring it all on.

My gal, my son and I are heading out on a roadtrip this Sunday to a little cabin in Montana for a week of reading and relaxing and I would love to take a stack of reader suggested books with me, as I am sure many of us would. Then maybe we could write reviews and post them to this post as comments?

Keep those book ideas coming. Everyone should have (and have access to) a good book on their nightstand.

What I'm reading right now

Delightfully Cranky blog post by Lisa Jervis, February 13, 2008 - 12:27pm; tagged: books.

Susan Faludi's The Terror Dream: Fear and Fantasy in Post-9/11 America. I'm only on page 97, but so far am (unsurprisingly, given her track record) blown away by her brilliance.

Mini quiches and meerkats in Cambridge

Bitch on Wheels blog post by Debbie Rasmussen, October 12, 2007 - 4:48pm; tagged: books, friends of Bitch, fundraising, on the road.

This morning we met up with Amy Hoffman, editor of the Women’s Review of Books and author of the soon-to-be-released An Army of Ex-Lovers. We met at Zaftig's, a Jewish deli, where we chatted over oatmeal and borscht about what's happening at the Women's Review and what it's like living in Boston.

Pumpkins in Philly

Bitch on Wheels blog post by Debbie Rasmussen, October 9, 2007 - 6:18pm; tagged: books, bookshops, fundraising, on the road, tv.

On the subway this morning, I sat next to a man reading, Why Men Marry Bitches. Somewhat comically, the woman sitting on the other side of me was reading Che Guevara's essays on How to Change the World.
