Issue #32, Summer 2006

Our senior editor, Rachel Fudge, commented one day that she’d seen intricately, artfully folded paper dresses in a San Francisco shop window, and we were inspired to create our own for the cover of this fashion-centric issue. Calling on the costume-mistress skills of Oakland pal Diana Stasko (a woman who once made a gorgeous, menstruation-themed dress out of pantiliners streaked with red glitter nail polish), we provided piles of magazine ads and let her go to town. The result is a beautiful garment, sure—but clearly visible in its gathers and pleats are endless reminders of the fashion and beauty imperatives that have historically defined and circumscribed the female experience.

Our 15th-anniversary series prints offer something for every taste. Featuring some of our favorite covers from Bitch's 15-year history, the limited-edition prints offer gorgeous photos, cool illustrations, nifty typography, and lots of color to perk up your living space. All 15 designs are archival giclee* prints on high-quality, heavy watercolor paper, and are suitable for framing. And if you just can't decide, maybe you need more than one — after all, they'll look pretty great hanging side by side.

*A very high-quality, archival inkjet print that creates very fine detail and vivid color, used by artists to reproduce work with a high degree of integrity to the original.
