Adventures in Feministory Mug: Juliette Gordon Low
Merchandise orders placed on or after December 19th will not be delivered until after December 25th.
The Savannah-born Low, nicknamed "Daisy," founded the Girl Scouts of the USA (originally called American Girl Guides) in 1912 in order to bring young women of all backgrounds to an appreciation of the outdoors and a realization of self-reliance. Low was intent on teaching girls to be citizens rather than simply potential wives and homemakers, and her goals remain embedded in Girl Scouts philosophy today.
