I'm a student at the University of Chicago, where I spend my time reading about confessional poetry, cancer autobiography, dance history, and porn, and trying to find the best cupcakes in the city.

What I'm reading:

At the moment, Susan Sontag's "Illness as Metaphor" and Rachel Holmes' "African Queen: The Real Life of the Hottentot Venus." Favorites include anything by Tennessee Williams and Truman Capote, and short stories by Margaret Atwood and Anne Petry.

What I'm watching:

The DVD of Michael Jackon's "Dangerous" Tour, innumerable documentaries about tragic ballerinas, reruns of "30 Rock."
