Feminist Intersection: Women get shit done - at the Global Indigenous Women's Caucus that is!
I'm in NYC this week for the 9th session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII).
It's an opportunity for Indigenous people around the world to come together, advocate, lobby, and generally raise hell together across borders, lands, and laws.
This past Friday the Global Indigenous Women's Caucus took place and my organization, the Native Youth Sexual Health Network, proudly co-sponsored it, along with amazing organizations like the Seventh Generation Fund for Indian Development. The joint statement and position papers will be coming shortly.
We are also participating in the Indigenous Youth Caucus, so I will try and post some highlights throughout the week - but if any of y'all are in NYC, come drop by our side event this Tuesday night from 6 to 8pm entitled "Training Session on Capacity and Leadership Promotion of Indigenous Women," more info on the website: http://www.un.org/esa/socdev/unpfii/en/session_ninth.html
