Read: An Oral History of Mad Men's Killer Episode "The Other Woman"

The Mad Men fans among us will never forget "The Other Woman." In a season filled with beautiful, heart-wrenching, affecting episodes, "The Other Woman" stands out as one of the best, and we aren't the only ones who think so: The episode is nominated for Emmys in the acting, writing, and directing categories this year. Not only that, the Daily Beast is publishing a two-part oral history on the episode with Christina Hendricks and Matthew Weiner, part one of which went up today.

The oral history provides a great analysis of the episode, with some interesting behind-the-scenes tidbits and plenty of back and forth between Hendricks and Weiner. There's also some discussion of its sexist themes, including the way Don's Jaguar pitch worked as a metaphor for the objectification of women, both then and now. Here's Hendricks on her character, Joan, and the way audience members reacted to the controversial decision she made in "The Other Woman":

There were very few options for women at this time at work. As a single mother, how do you rise at work? How do you make more money? How do you support your family? Luckily, we have a lot more options these days. It’s not fair to compare the situation to 2012, but people can’t help it because that’s where we live, and that’s what we do, and that’s who we are. We get emotional, thinking, “I would never do that. I can’t believe it.” Well, you would never do it now.
