Rad Ladies Who Draw Comics: Lucy Knisley and Angie Wang!

What a day! Two for one? Today's installment of Rad Ladies Who Draw Comics will feature TWO women comic artists!

Lucy Knisley is a Chicago-based artist who recently published her first book, French Milk! In addition to comics and illustrations, Lucy plays the gee-tar and sings!

I was drawn to both these women for their quirky illustrations--Knisley has a whole series of small prints which depict everything from the Bronte sisters to Mulder and Scully, she definitely is down with the pop culture!

Here's from her strip "Stop Paying Attention"

Bay Area-basedAngie Wangalso places women in the forefront of her work, more often than not placed women in the forefront (be it destroying a city, birthing a watermelon, or just being Velma Dinkley)

This one is called "Bullshit" and I loves it.

Angie Wang also has super cute (and kinda kooky) mini comics (Click on "Tomato and Basil" for her tragic recipe for tomato sauce..)

Love what you're reading here? Then you'll love Bitch magazine. The reviews are snappy, the analysis in-depth, the writers are downright sharp, and the illustrations so often belong in a frame that you'll have to move over other artwork.

If you don't have a subscription to our award-winning 80-page quarterly magazine, it's definitely time to start one.
