So much to read about the Ferguson protests today: 

• First off, John Oliver's video calling out racism and the problems with policing in America is a must-see: 

• As protests remained active in Ferguson all weekend, the National Guard is being sent in, a curfew is being enforced, and police are using tear gas on protesters. [Washington Post] 

• This moving essay from a Wisconsin father whose son was shot and killed by police offers some long-term perspective on how our country deals with police shootings. [Politico] 

• Meanwhile, enterprising teens in Georgia have created an app to report and comment on police behavior. It's called Five-O. [Feministing] 

• Studies show that one of the most powerful ways to prevent sexual assault on college campuses is for guys to tell their male friends that violence against women is not acceptable. [NPR]

• Orange is the New Black star Uzo Aduba, who plays Suzanne (AKA "Crazy Eyes"), won the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series this weekend a the Creative Arts Emmys.  

• A public school in New Jersey told a transgender student that she would not be allowed to attend school unless she reverted to using her birth name and dressing like a boy. [Mic] 

• When an immigrant woman who became pregnant after being raped sought to get an abortion in Ireland, the government denied her request and forced her to get a C-section. Ugh. [Guardian] 

• A Pacific Northwest tribe is protesting a plan to build the country's largest coal export terminal—and winning. [Grist]
