Piper Kerman, author of Orange is the New Black, testified about

the effects of solitary confinement on women, including prison authorities using solitary confinement to dissuade and punish women who report staff sexual abuse, at today's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing about solitary confinement. You can watch a video of the entire hearing here:
