New Promo for the Mindy Project! Mindy Kaling's "Having it All"

Sure, it's summer and that means you're more likely to find me streaming old episodes of Pretty Little Liars on my laptop than watching a season premiere (no, YOU stayed up until 2:00 last night to find out what happened at the dance-a-thon!), but the fall shows are only two short months away, with them comes the Mindy Project.

Check out this new promo for the show, where Mindy talks work/life balance while walking through the hospital where she is a doctor:

It's a little cheesy, but I love Mindy Kaling and I found the premise funny so I'm still looking forward to the premiere. Also, I can only imagine this promo was inspired by the "Having It All" explosion of June 2012, which I love. The key, according to Kaling: "You just need to work 80 hours a week and be amazing at your job. Make sure you're always available for your friends, and save plenty of time for love." Considering that this is a 30-second spot on Fox, her dismantling of the "women can have it all" myth is refreshing (even if it does end with a hokey pratfall).

What do you think? Are you going to watch this show when it premieres in the fall?

Fox :(

I couldn't love Mindy Kaling more if she were my actual girlfriend (I feel like that might have been a weird thing to say. My point is she's the best) and so I'm excited for her to have a show. But I'm worried that it's on Fox, a network that has categorically cancelled all my favorite shows and made me cry. I hope she won't be cancelled but as my friend says, "If her show is any good expect it to be cancelled in the near future."
But, there's always hope that past actions aren't a good indication of future actions. And I'm also hoping that her show doesn't interfere with my other shows. So let's clock this as carefully optimistic? TV lineups lately haven't been being nice to me. It turns out all the shows I want to watch are all on at the exact same time.

Ooh, yay. I love Mindy Kaling

Ooh, yay. I love Mindy Kaling and can't wait for this. Seems like a nice companion to my other new favorite on Fox, The New Girl. (Yes, I found myself loving that show; I know not everyone agrees.)

I really like Mindy in "The Office" and I guess since Dwight got a spin off why shouldn't she? The show revolves around her balancing her personal life with her job. Mindy is a skilled OB/GYN and shares that practice with a few other doctors that make her life even harder. I'm so ready for this new TV series to come out, and I don’t even have to worry about missing it because my Hopper will automatically record it for me. I work for Dish and I can tell you that the Hoppers PrimeTime Anytime feature automatically records all my prime time shows that come on CBS, NBC, FOX and ABC everyday in HD. Ill have “The Mindy Project” recorded on my DVR every week, and I can skip my recorded commercials when I watch this show!
