Introducing The Grrrl on Film Blog!

Hello and welcome to the Grrrl on Film Blog! My name is Jennifer K. Stuller, aka The Ink-Stained Amazon. I'm a writer, author, and critic with a particular interest in the history of women in popular culture. My first book, Ink-Stained Amazons and Cinematic Warriors: Superwomen in Modern Mythology, will be published this January.

I'm honored to have had Bitch ask me to be a guest film blogger for the summer, so for the next couple of months I'll be posting on everything from women directors to B-movies to bad movies with feminist potential. I'm looking forward to conversing with y'all over here at Bitch!

In the meantime, set your DVRs to record the Modesty Blaise on the American Movie Classics channel (AMC) playing from 3:15-6:00 am this Friday and stay tuned for a post about it later in the day!

Here's the trailer to pique your interest!

Feminist Comedian on Film and Sometimes Behind a Camera.

Hi Jennifer! Have you checked into some of the videos TV and movie shoots With Margaret Cho? I was just checking them out via a search from her main site. The URL for that search was http://www.margaretcho.com/content/index.php?s=Movie She was also behind a camera filming at a SF shoot. I think she's smart, sexy, funny, a good actress and I loved the video clip unzipped and watching the pilot (Episode 1) of Drop Dead Diva. Margaret is a feminist too. I think she's great.

Liberate the Vagina Show by Margaret Cho

Panty Buns left out a funny but educational TV show Margaret Cho was in that got censored and didn't see the light of day. It was called The Vagina Show and was already produced as an episode for the television show The Doctors. She got some good zingers in. You can watch the trailer at http://www.margaretcho.com/content/2009/02/12/liberate-the-vagina-show/ thanks to the YouTube preview embedded on Margaret's site. It's the second post in the Post Category 'Women's Issues' on her blog.

Margaret Cho in Beautiful

I forgot to mention in my last comment that Margaret Cho has a new Concert Film which premiered on Showtime on July 3rd

CQ

The style and form of this film definitely influenced Roman Coppola's CQ, a well made satire on cheesy pulp films such a Barbarella and anything with John Phillip Law. Thanx for the post.

Like Unzipped, Bitch, Panty Buns

I liked Margaret Cho's 'Video from Unzipped Photoshoot. She's been in a lot more than Just 'Drop Dead Diva' and 'Beautiful' . I also like this Bitch Magazine blog. I hope Sissy Panty Buns keeps writing, developing and adding more good feminist links on his site like the ones to Maragret Cho and Bitch Magazine.
