I love rock, and roll, and. . . Twilight?

Oh my goodness, Bitch fans. If it's not one Twilight-related news story these days, it's another. And as we have seen in earlier posts on this blog, Twilight news is now seeping out of the tween market and onto our feminist radar screens (and not just because there is enough weirdo gender stuff going on in the Twilight books to fill, well, another book).
So if reading about how the uber-bland Twilight star Kristin Stewart is set to play a gay, male, prison inmate in January didn't get your feminist hackles up, feast your eyes on this: Stewart is going to play Joan Jett in the Runaways biopic! What? Since when did she become cool enough to do something like that?
Most of us can probably agree that Joan Jett kicks serious ass. She was one of the first women to make a name for herself playing the electric guitar, and The Runaways (a band she co-founded in the 70s, and the focus of the Stewart-starring biopic) has endured as one of the most awesome all-woman punk bands ever.
Am I way off base here? Is Kristin Stewart the new, edgy, cool, feminist star on the block? Or is she just a semi-annoying, deadpan teen actress who is getting better roles than her acting abilities warrant?

This almost rivals Britney's
This almost rivals Britney's rendition of "I Love Rock and Roll" for worst piece of Joan Jett news. If anything, I can't imagine that this movie will be worst than Crossroads.
