Fun, Food, Feminism

Brevity is the order of the day.

Hat tip to Racialicious, I came across this neat post about the myths behind Americanized Chinese food and its implications on culture.  As a Filipina American, I can absolutely identify with how Asian cuisines get all "mixed" up and grouped together.  Similar to the Asian countries and populations, our foods and cuisines often get lumped together under one umbrella with the lazy excuse, "It's all the same thing."

Trust me, it's not.

Because sometimes people forget...

...that these countries are in Asia: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka. Which exemplifies your point that Asian cuisine is extremely diverse. Even within India, the cuisine is vastly different depending on what area of the country you're in. The food in West Bengal is nothing like the food in Kerala.

Also, I heard a very interesting interview with Lee on NPR. Her book The Fortune Cookie Chronicles sounds like a good one to pick up. Edutainment, if you will.
