Douchebag Decree: Ray Wieczorek and the New Hampshire Executive Council

"ye olde douchebag decree" in royal blue letters over a baby blue drawing of a douchebag. Underneath, in small red letters, is type reading "BITCH HEREBY DECLARES THE FOLLOWING PERSON A TOTAL DOUCHEBAG."

White suited man staring at viewerNew Hampshire Executive Councilor Ray Wieczorek isn't completely responsible for the defunding of the state's six Planned Parenthood centers, but he is at least partially responsible, having been one of the three councilors who voted to oppose the PP contract on June 22nd. As a result of his and fellow DBs Daniel St. Hilaire and David Wheeler's votes, Planned Parenthoods all over New Hampshire can no longer dispense birth control. Instead, they can only offer prescriptions for which their many uninsured patients cannot afford to pay. Besides contraceptive services, these centers' pelvic examinations, STD testing, and cancer screening and prevention services are also at risk. Reuters reports that as a result of the Executive Council's decision, 120 low-income women every single day will be affected.

Though he is only one of three councilors to vote against PP, Ray Wieczorek gets his own personal Douchebag Decree because of his horribly insensitive and ignorant comment after the vote. Wieczorek is quoted as saying "I am opposed to abortion. I am opposed to providing condoms to someone. If you want to have a party, have a party, but don't ask me to pay for it." and told the Concord Montior, "If they want to have a party, why not let them pay for it?"

What party? Thanks to Ray Wieczorek and the other Republican members of the Executive Council, New Hampshire can now expect to see a 63% increase in unintended preganancies and a 78% increase in abortions.
And though Mr. Wieczorek doesn't want to have to pay for this "rager," he will have no choice as the substantial loss of Title X funds may result in a $17 million public bill he and the other 1,316, 470 residents of New Hampshire will have to foot. Is this what you call a party, Ray Wieczorek? If so, I don't want to be invited. Neither does 65% of the country, but if the all out war against Plan Parenthood continues more and more of us won't have a choice.

Wieczorek's comment places him with the large group of public officials who have no idea what Planned Parenthood does but continue to spout vicious lies about it. How can so many high-powered politicians be so misinformed? Beats me. But something must change. So I say to Ray Wieczorek and the rest of the New Hampshire Executive Council, if the Health and Human Services Department's warning doesn't convince you to rethink your vote (or your place on Men Who Hate Women), perhaps these hundreds upon hundreds of personal stories from women and men all over the country will.

Even if Ray Wieczorek does realize the error of his douchebag ways, the fight is still up to us. Stay informed, join the action, and share your stories. It all really does make a difference.
