BitchTapes: The Daily

BitchTapes: The Daily from BitchTapes on 8tracks Radio.

I don't know about you, but I've been spending a whole lot of time with preschoolers lately. Amongst some of the things we teach the tykes are the days of the week. I've grown tired of the "Sunday, Monday, Tuesday…" song after singing it nearly every day for the past two weeks, so I thought I'd create a BitchTapes to remind myself of the joys that days of the week can bring. Use this mixtape to refresh your memory if you ever find yourself forgetting which day comes next.

1. "Monday Morning" – Fleetwood Mac

This is one of my most favorite Fleetwood Mac songs. It's just the right amount of upbeat cheeriness that'll be sure to get you pumped up for the first day of the week. No more Monday blues here.

2. "Tuesday Moon" – Neutral Milk Hotel

First comes Monday, next comes Tuesday. Let Jeff Mangum coo you through the day as he confesses his love for you.

3. "Wednesday Week" – The Undertones

It's hump day y'all! Luckily, we have some fine Irish rockers jamming along as we scuttle over the peak of the week.

4. "Thursday Afternoon" – Brian Eno

Okay – "Thursday Afternoon" is actually an hour-long track off the album of the same name, but here's a 5-minute clip of it. It's a wondrously soothing medley of sounds reminiscent of oceans and open space. Take a break with Eno before we jump into the chaos that is Friday.

5. "Friday" – Rebecca Black

You must've seen this coming: IT'S FRIDAY (FRIDAY!) That was an admittedly harsh transition, but I honestly couldn't help myself. (I was too excited.) Thank me later.

6. "Saturday" – Yo La Tengo

Think of this song as the tune you'll play after recovering from a fun-filled Friday. You want something mellow, but also generally great. None other than YLT comin' at ya.

7. "Sunday" – Sonic Youth

We did it! It's Sunday at last. Your efforts have been rewarded with some good ol' fashioned noise rock. Enjoy it on this day of rest.

8. "Seven Days" – Craig David

This song immediately popped into my head when I decided to make a BitchTapes about the days of the week. I think I hadn't heard it since its debut in 2001, but I'm sure glad to have an excuse to listen to it again. Fortunately, Craig David lays out each of the seven days for us, once more.

Thanks for listening! I'm going to go play this for the little ones now.
