BitchTapes: Rock Camp for Girls

feminist mixtapes

Girls Rock NC is in it's 10th year of holding rock music feminist camps for girls in North Carolina. Their programs use music as a vehicle for building community and self-esteem in young girls. Each year, the camp gives the girls a mix CD of women who have rocked out before them. Camp co-founder Beth Turner put together this selection from some of those mixes, with songs ranging from Bikini Kill to Luscious Jackson.

Rock Camp for Girls from BitchTapes on 8tracks Radio.

Hey Bitch!

Thanks for all y'all do with putting the feminist voice out there.

I am interested in exploring music, so I wanted to sign up for 8tracks. However, I couldn't help but notice on their team page there is only 5 women (out of 34). Whoa! That seems like an awfully low percentage. And those women primarily deal with "communication" and "social media". Was Bitch aware of this? Is there a reason y'all chose to support and utilize a company that has such a lack of diversity in it's staff? Are there any better options out there?
