Victoria Bekiempis (“The Unbelievers”) is a New York–based journalist and translator. She doesn’t know what to do when she’s not working, because she enjoys reporting and writing so much. When she can handle time off, though, she likes to read the classics and super-pulpy sci-fi. Her writing has appeared in Bitch, the Village Voice, the Christian Science Monitor, Skeptic, and various U.S. newspapers.

Celena Cipriaso (“Soap and Glory”) graduated with a BFA in dramatic writing from New York University. She was once a writer and writer’s assistant for ABC’s All My Children, and is now a freelance writer living in New York City. She likes writing about a variety of subjects, including feminism, race, current events, soap history, and beer. Her publishing credits include the anthologies P.S.: What I Didn’t Say (Seal Press, 2009) and Yell-Oh! Girls (HarperCollins, 2001), the web magazines AsianAvenue and The Legendary, and the blogs The Beer Sessions, Listicles.com, and Word Riot. She blogs at skirt.com/drunklittleasian.

Hannah Eko (“Fear of Heights”) spent five of her formative years in military school and graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. She is still recovering. When not inspecting boats along the Oregon coast, she spends her time thinking about life’s deep questions and the multiplicity of identity. She loves the Clash, kind people, constellations, lip-synching in the mirror, and Great Danes. From the time she was a 5'6" fifth-grader, being tall has opened her eyes to the various ways people are named by their bodies. A Southern California native, she currently resides in Portland, Oregon, with her vivacious sister.

Jen Sorensen (“Adventures in Feministory”) is a cartoonist and illustrator best known for her weekly comic, Slowpoke, which appears in alternative newspapers around the nation. Her work has been published in the Village Voice, Ms., and the Los Angeles Times, and on Nickelodeon and NPR.org. She recently drew a graphic travelogue about a trip to Montana for the Oregonian, and looks forward to doing more nonfiction comics in the future. In 2010, Jen received a Grambs Aronson “Cartooning with a Conscience” award, part of the James Aronson Awards for Social Justice Journalism given out by Hunter College. Jen currently lives in Portland, Oregon. Her website is www.slowpokecomics.com.

Zachary Zezima (Illustrations, “Nobody’s Mother”) was born on Long Island and received his BFA in illustration from Parsons School of Design in 2009. His work derives inspiration from his travels, which have included teaching English in Japan, building homes in India, and farming in Europe. He recently returned to New York and currently lives and works in Brooklyn as an artist assistant and freelance illustrator.
